About Fairfields Community Council

Fairfields Community Council was formed in May 2019 and is part of the first tier of local government, the community councils closest to the voters. Our councillors make policy and strategy decisions about what we will do and our staff team work with them to implement these on a day-to-day basis. The council is independent of MK City Council. All our activities are governed by UK and EU laws and codes of practice.

Fairfields Community Council aims to foster the wellbeing of community. Our work falls into three main categories:

  • Representing the local community.
  • Delivering services to meet local needs.
  • Striving to improve the quality of life in the areas we represent.

Often, we work with partners including statutory authorities, community groups and individuals. We co-operate with MK City Council to try to ensure effective delivery of their services in our area.

We review all planning applications within our community and we are consulted by MK City Council on planning policy.

Fairfields Community Council has signed the Civility and Respect Pledge for the local council sector.

Fairfields Master Plan

Fairfields is a district and civil parish (In England, a civil parish is a type of administrative parish used for local government. It is a territorial designation which is the lowest tier of local government) that covers a large new development area on the western flank of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. As the first tier of Local Government, the parish council is responsible for the people who live and work in this area of Milton Keynes.

Origin

The (greenfield) land it occupies was previously part of Fairfields Farm, in Calverton, a rural parish that is now just outside the Milton Keynes urban area. In 2004, the Government decided on the further expansion of Milton Keynes and accordingly designated land on the eastern and western flanks for this purpose.[3] Along with the adjacent parish of Whitehouse (and Broughton on the eastern flank), this is the part of the implementation of that decision.

Fairfields will be home to 2,200 homes when it is finished together with a local centre, a primary school, and open space and play areas. A reservoir has already been constructed as part of the sustainable urban drainage system.

Gallagher estates’ role, as master developer, is to undertake the overall delivery of the scheme, retain responsibility for the delivery of planning obligations and provide a talented and multidisciplinary team which will oversee the development from conception through to completion.
